Introduction

When I started my Field Guide course and read through the course content, I stumbled over around 60 trees that were on my list, including a checklist of what to learn about it. This read:

“What to know:
□ to identify the common indicator tree species
□ to provide interesting facts
□ to know about cultural, medicinal uses of these common species”

On the first glance, it looked not too fancy, although the list was quite impressive:

As a foreigner to learn all about those trees is quite tough I got to experience. Not only to ID them, but also to get to know them. But I must confess that it is also fun and extremely interesting, especially the traditional and medicinal uses, which I have also included to my information.
