Two days ago we arrived in Selati, our first station in the bush.
The Selati camp is situated on the banks of the Selati River, in the 33 000ha (81 545 acres) Selati Game Reserve, to the west of the Kruger National Park.
It is a large reserve, bisected by the Selati River, with diverse topography and biodiversity. Large granite hills can be seen in the eastern part and the dominant vegetation types are Combretum and Mopane woodland. This habitat is well-suited to the large elephant and giraffe population found there.
I share the tent with Alexa, another German participant. The tent is not too spacious add has only two mattresses (let´s call it beds) and a rack, barely enough space for a couple of clothes and an alarm clock. I only hope we can keep the mosquitos, spiders, snakes and scorpions outside.
We quickly threw our stuff inside the tent and met our instructor David who presented us our schedule for the next weeks. When I saw it, I thought they are joking, but I quickly found out that they weren´t. Im an not an early bird. I am the opposite, I am a night owl. But we will see how it works out.
After we made ourselves at home, we went out in the riverbed, that is still dry but makes a nice sunset viewing point. We all were stunned and happy to finally be in the bush.

Good night,
Sininho
